The best show on TV
Sons of Anarchy...when I began to see the promos for season 1 I had mixed feelings: I have ridden motorcycles since I was about 15, and I have friends in clubs, so I know the "real deal" lifestyle -- my concern was that this had the potential to be a really great show but if the writing or acting wasn't up to speed it could fall on its face very quickly. All worries fell by the wayside as I became addicted from the very first episode. Kurt Sutter, who created Sons, spent some time around MCs to make sure the authenticity was up to speed. That in itself wouldn't make a good show; Sutter's talented writing and the phenomenal acting of the cast polish this gem to perfection! I immediately purchased Season One as soon as it became available to tide me over until Season Two began, and I was not disappointed when it did: The characters continue to grow, the plot lines are riveting, the action believable and the edge-of-your-seat-tension grows from episode to spisode! I care about...

Better than Season 1: the promising bud blossoms into a flower
Kurt Sutter, creator of "Sons of Anarchy," has done a fine job developing the series. Things ratchet up with the feds, Hale (the honest police officer), the Irish and the individuals within SAMCRO, not to mention the Aryans who move into town to stir everything up.Charlie Hunnam has grown into the character of Jax and made him more believable and human/likeable. I know I got a few dings from Jax worshippers (all women) in my review for Season 1, but I found him and his relationship with Maggie Siff's character to be the weakest aspects. With the developments in Season 2, all my doubts are dispelled and there are tremendous amounts of growth in the storyline and the town of Charming's denizens. Great guest stars include: Tom Arnold; Adam Arkin; Titus Welliver; Henry Rollins; Mitch Pileggi; and, of course, Ally Walker of "Profiler" fame.My only issue is that there isn't more interaction between SAMCRO members and the townspeople. Supposedly, these guys are...

Awesome show
I am not a review writer but I felt compelled to write a review on this show b/c this is the first show in a very long time that forced me to watch the whole season in one day. I am not a biker chick or never wanted a bike so I didn't think I would like it but this show was HIGHLY recommended so I took a chance and boy I wasn't disappointed. The characters, storyline and action are great and I don't feel anything is too farfetched. I hope they continue for seasons to come.

Best series! A must watch.
Very rarely do I watch something on tv and continue to think about it days later. This season of SOA had that sort of impact on me.************************* some may consider the rest a spoiler **************************************With Jax's son kidnapped and Gemma going to jail we watch as the motorcycle club seems to be falling apart. The season opener started with a huge unforeseen bang. It was unbelievable. I really was in shock the entire episode. Especially, after the ended the second season with the way they did.I think this show has some serious writers. With the scenarios they come up with and how they bring everything together has me WOWed.I honestly, watched this entire season in one night. I was up until 5am the other morning just trying to see what happens next. This is one of the best series I've seen. I'll be thinking of this show for a long time.

Excellent Start to the 3rd Season!
I know it's probably a bit premature to rate the entire season based on the first episode, but this show since its inception has never disappointed me, so I'm fairly confident it will be a 5 star season as were seasons 1 and 2. The drama is heightened and the show seems to be taking on a new direction, with less emphasis on the actual activities of the Sons, and more focus on why they do what they do. I'll be eager to see how the plot develops; without giving away anything, some decisions have been made at the end of the first episode that have the potential to drastically alter the make up of the show and the direction it continues in. This should show us as the viewers a new side of the Club, and expand on the already prodigious talents of Kurt Sutter and his production team. The show has the same sort of gritty feel as the Shield did a few years back, and even features a few of the same actors, most notably the guy who played Kurtis "Lem" Lemansky. Somehow the Sons...

The series may be named after a (fictional) Northern California motorcycle club, but with the release of this four-disc set of 13 episodes and bonus material, it's clearer than ever that Sons of Anarchy is about a lot more than hoods 'n' Harleys. SAMCRO (the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original chapter), as they're known, is an extended family of folks who care about one another, look out for one another, fight for one another… Heck, they're just like us--at least until the guns come out, drugs are dealt, murders are committed, a baby is kidnapped, and other squirrelly stuff happens. This time around, they're plagued by two big problems. As the first episode opens, Abel, the infant son of MC member Jackson "Jax" Teller (Charlie Hunnam, a fine actor and Brad Pitt look-alike) and his baby mama, Dr. Tara Knowles (Maggie Siff), has been abducted, most likely by some rogue members of the Irish Republican Army (the efforts of Jax and his "brothers" to find Abel, which include a trip to Dublin, is a thread that unravels throughout the season); what's more, they have another baby on the way. Meanwhile, Jax's mother, Gemma (Katey Sagal, excellent once again), wife of club leader Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman), has been framed for a murder she didn't commit, which more than complicates her efforts to look after her father, who's slipping into Alzheimer's following the death of his wife.

It's a tribute to Sons creator Kurt Sutter (who also portrays the character Otto in several episodes) and his team that they're able to make us care about a bunch of folks most of us would normally cross the street to avoid. The cast, which includes some fine actors from the United Kingdom (including Hunnam), several veterans from popular shows like Deadwood and Game of Thrones, and guest stars like Hal Holbrook (as Gemma's dad), Drea de Matteo, and even Sonny Barger (a real-life Hell's Angel), is substantial, and the storylines are legion (like many ongoing series, this one may require newcomers to do some quick catching up before getting a handle on what's going on). There's plenty of violence (though it's fairly tame compared to the show's cable counterparts), the music is outstanding (you're not likely to find a song by the great English guitarist-singer-songwriter Richard Thompson featured on any other shows), and the writing, acting, and production values are top-notch all around. Sons of Anarchy has a consistent vibe and attitude that make for very compelling viewing--and with the special features including four scenes from season four, it's clear that there's much more to come. Other bonus material includes commentary for three episodes, deleted scenes, a gag reel, and more. --Sam Graham Top to learn more

Men and women alike love this, my husband and I can watch it together and neither of us can wait for the next episode! Nudity, violence, language but come on, it's a show about an MC that runs guns.

Great show
The Shield may be lamentably gone from TV, but prominent alumnus Kurt Sutter seems to have taken it upon himself to carry on its legacy with Sons of Anarchy, and if the show's first season is any indication he's more than up to the task. Anyone who enjoyed The Shield's combination of intelligence and testosterone will certainly find a lot to like here, as SoA quickly established itself as among TV's most unique and consistently compelling shows and only got better from there. Striking a near-perfect balance between grit and sensationalism, it takes viewers through a world marked by violence, double-dealing, and racial division, with an emphasis on the ambiguous morality and personal and familial baggage that come with a life lived between the straight world and the criminal one. The machinations of the characters and the twists of the plot are almost operatic, but the show remains rooted in the harsh realities of gangland. The premise is sort of...

Awesome show, great Blu
Had not watched this show during the first season run, but I had customers asking about it for months now, so in seeing the Blu option I took a chance. The demand has been huge and the feedback has been excellent. A well produced show, a great cast, a gritty yet flowing soundtrack (Primal Scream, Lions, Bob Thiele, Curtis Stigers) all put together onto a solid Blu package. The picture quality through all 13 episodes maintained decently, with only a few failures here and there depending on the night footage. The DTS is mixed just well enough to hear such gems as a cigarette burning while the Harley floods the outer channels, or a dog barking out a rear channel that makes you jump, or one of the few bass scenes (thumping music) when they enter the Niners Club in Oakland. The music was actually done just right in each episode as to not drown out any peripheral chatter or relevant goings-on. The supplements are placed entirely on disc 3 and include:* Making of - 9 minutes...

Great DVD extras and a fantastic ride!
Fantastic show and GREAT extras on the DVD! Always appreciate it when a DVD set includes extras. Includes deleted scenes, a gag reel, films about the tattoos, the motorcycle customization, casting decisions narrative including the original audition tapes for all the cast. Also includes some audio commentaries. All in all, a great DVD set and that's not to mention the show itself. Charlie Hunnam steals every scene he is in. He is electrifying, vibrant and SO talented. You can't take your eyes off watching him every moment he is on the screen. The show is fantastically written but even better is watching Hunnam interact, especially with his girlfriend--wow, their scenes are hot! Some actors are just really interesting to watch, they can do more with a look or a word than others do with entire lines. Hunnam is one of these. His character is the vice-president of the Sons of Anarchy but his intelligence, questioning of the status quo and determination to...

The roar of a motorcycle can signal freedom--or trouble. Sons of Anarchy examines a biker gang from both perspectives, as Jackson "Jax" Teller (Charlie Hunnam, Nicholas Nickleby) struggles between loyalty to the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Originals (aka SAMCRO or "Sam Crow," which his dead father founded) and doubts about the criminal and often brutal actions the club demands of him. The series opens with a rival gang stealing the Sons' stash of guns and the premature birth of Jax's son, two events that sow questions in Jax's mind about the life he's leading. Over the course of the season, these questions will spark dangerous conflict with the gang's leader, Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman, Hellboy) and with his own mother, Gemma (Katey Sagal, Married with Children), who's now married to Clay. Despite the macho setting, Gemma is the standout character of the first season of Sons of Anarchy: fierce and manipulative, she sets the good of the club (and her own desires) above everything else--even her love for her son. Despite the lingering presence of his junkie ex-wife (Drea de Matteo, The Sopranos), Jax finds himself drawn to his high school sweetheart, Tara Knowles (Maggie Siff, Mad Men), now a doctor, and who saved his son's life.

Throughout the first season of Sons of Anarchy, SAMCRO grapples with a multicultural array of foes: Hispanic bikers, African-American gangbangers, white supremacists, an Asian triad, and agents of the ATF. Uneasy alliances and precarious compromises rarely work out as planned, leading to nail-biting confrontations and headaches for Jax. But the rituals and emotional bonds of the club itself are the real subject of the show--how an institution built on friendship and family loyalty gets twisted by ambition and greed. One particularly compelling story line follows Jax and his best friend, Opie (Ryan Hurst, Remember the Titans), who had stepped away from the gang to make peace with his wife; to help Jax, he reenters the biker life, with horrific consequences. The creator of Sons of Anarchy, Kurt Sutter, was a writer and actor on The Shield, and fans of that show will find a similarly compelling mixture of scheming machinations and compromised morality here, grounded in excellent performances and vivid production. --Bret Fetzer

The Only show worth watching
I had heard good things about this show before sitting down to watch it, i ordered the fist season and watched all of it over a weekend, i couldn't wait to see the second season so i took a mini (cheap) vacation and stayed home to watch the second season. Character development and the story line is amazing and sometimes hard to watch but if you want to see great television start watching SOA, you wont be disappointed.

Gritty, well done, but horrible people
To begin with, I have to say there is nothing I identify with with these people. They are the definition of trash. However, I will take trash and violence any day over CSI plasticity and commercials. Of course, this means I only watch the uncut video. With Netflix streaming and Amazon Video on Demand, it's the only way to go. I have watched maybe 3 hours of broadcast since May, and that was all I could take. Now, back to SAMCRO. If you take the series as vignettes into the worst side of society exaggerated enough to make it interesting, you have this series. It is well acted and produced and the second year seems to have better continuity than the first. It will give you all the blood and gratuitous violence you could ask for, but it is not anywhere near the top 20 or 30 of my all-time favorites.Breaking Bad and Dexter outclass the Sons of Anarchy by far. The Sopranos had characters who were just as evil and sociopathic, but you still felt some train of...

Verdict More of the same but slightly better than the already-addictive first season, Sons Of Anarchy has quietly become one of the most addictive and compelling shows on TV. Whilst there are a number of plots, character arcs, sub-plots and sub-sub-plots all intertwining, there are two overriding threads which define the second season.
